Saturday 21st February – Saturday 16th May
McKechnie Institute
Girvan’s recently refurbished cultural hub – The McKechnie Institute – houses an exhibition featuring unique objects and records relating to lighthouses, lighthouse keepers and Ailsa Craig, from the Girvan Burgh Collection. Also featured is a short film commissioned by the Northern Lighthouse Heritage Trust, and artworks by Frances Law (b. 1958) and Alex Cubie (1911–95).
A trip to the McKechnie also offers the chance to see the permanent display of artefacts that highlight Girvan’s heritage including Bronze Age Cinerary Urns from the surrounding area, model ships and an exhibition on the history of Ailsa Craig and its granite.
