We’re delighted to offer a series of film features in the Wee School Art Space for all those seeking a little quiet respite from the full on Festival experience!

Loast in the Garnock Valley

Join artist Stuart Murphy and film-maker/musician Rebecca Morris for a showing of their short documentary feature about life and in working class Ayrshire seen through the lens of Stuart’s artistic practice and soundtracked with an evocative selection of traditional song. There will be a chance to chat to the team behind the film and to view some of Stuart’s work before and after the film.

An Artist’s Inspiration – Film & talk

Sunday 4th May, 3:30pm
Wee School Art Space

Film-maker Michael Lloyd offers a new perspective on iconic folklorist and poet, Hamish Henderson, through the eyes of artist, Charles Nasmyth. The film explores Nasmyth’s decision to paint Hamish and along the way addresses Hamish’s creativity and his centrality to the Folk Revival and Scottish culture more widely.

The film will be followed by a short talk by Dr Fred Freeman. Fred is the author of numerous books on Scottish culture & the tradition and the organiser of the ground-breaking, multi-volume recording projects The Complete Songs of Robert Burns and The Complete Songs of Robert Tannahill.
